Design & Brand Identity

Spiderspool is a manufacturer of high-quality plastic filaments for desktop 3D printers. The corporate identity creation project was developed with the intention of conveying, through visual and graphic communication, the values, strategies, and mission of a brand that relies heavily on the excellence of its products. The brand is represented by a coil with the legs of a spider whose movement is suggested by both the rotation of the coil and the slanted logo while the payoff (literally “Cuddle your 3D printer!”) is meant to further emphasize the high quality of the product.

Project Details.

The definition of the color palette of Spiderspool products was developed according to a paradigm corresponding to several criteria. The products were divided according to tone, contrast, and chiaroscuro following the principles of Johannes Itten’s Color Theory.
Each Spiderspool color has a matched color so that any user with a dual extruder 3D printer always knows which colors to combine. The same directions also apply to the 3D pens for which a set of 6 colors has been specially created. Each color has been given a name inspired by a rare insect or vegetable and its chart indicates the closest RAL color thus simplifying 3D printing for user-designers.
Online each color is represented in three ways: the color in the filament, the color in the printed pattern, and the color matched to a recommended color. All this helps to make the choice more dynamic and fun.
