Packaging Design & Brand Identity

The packaging created for Spiderspool, a manufacturer of plastic filaments for 3d printing, was designed specifically to allow the printing process to take place directly from the box. The packaging design focused specifically on two types of products: the large spools used for desktop 3D printers and the small spools used for 3D pens.

Project Details.

The large reels were packaged in a brown rectangular box made of micro-corrugated cardboard on the cover of which is a black infographic that tells the brand concept itself. The sticker applied on the side describes the color characteristics of the coil placed inside: the name, inspired by that of a rare insect or plant, the nearest RAL color, a potential color match, and the type of plastic used (ABS/PLA, thickness, weight).

In contrast, the package of coils for 3D pens contains a set of 6 colors and allows the user to print directly from the box by simply passing the filament of the chosen color through the corresponding hole. Again, a label shows the characteristics of the coils in the set and illustrates, through infographics, some of their application areas.
